What is your idea of a great vacation?

Sitting on the beach under an umbrella with a good book listening to the ocean.

Don't understand the term...
Can't say the last vacation I was on. Oh wait, about 4 years ago. Went to St. Augustine for a couple days.
DH and I were supposed to go to Key West a few years ago. Haven't made it yet. Covid has legitimately kept us home. One cat needs an injection weekly, another consideration. I think DH thought the place in Okeechobee was supposed to serve as vacation. Nope. I rarely went for several reasons.
I need to check on dates of CKC about an hour away and call it it MY vacation.

Sitting on the beach under an umbrella with a good book listening to the ocean. This is mine too! I recently visited family in Georgia and they have a nice pontoon boat. We went out on the lake and toured around, threw out the anchor and swam, and lazed in the sun. 😎 This was a great vacation too!

These days - visiting family is about as out there as it gets. A few events, but haven't planned anything requiring air travel since 2020 when I had to travel for family emergency.

We enjoy camping, but most of our trips are long weekends.
We are going to Vegas in January. Tanner is trying out for team USA. A lot of time spent in a bowling alley, but there is time to be tourists, too.

Two weeks someplace warm during winter. We used to go to Destin, Fla., but haven’t been there in years. It has grown so much that I’m not sure we’d like it as much now. But a break during our long Michigan winter would certainly be welcome.

At this point anytime away from home is wonderful. We just got back from a 4 day weekend. Took our RV out , Lancaster area. Really didn’t to much because I’m still dealing with Covid aftermath. It was just really nice to have a change of scenery and was only about 2 hours from home.

The furthest we went this past summer was an hour and 15 minutes away.

Well, Greece was pretty amazing - we got back about a week ago.
Those who know me know I love to travel. My ideal vacation runs the gamut from city trips to cruises to baseball games to national parks to museums to botanical gardens to just about anything in between.
Domestic and international, city and country, planned and impromptu….I love it all!
For me, vacation means new people to meet, foods to taste, scenery to enjoy, things to learn, experiences to savor, etc.
Occasionally, I like a resting vacation but usually I prefer to be active.
This year, we vacationed in France, Milwaukee, and Greece. We have a family beach vacation planned for Thanksgiving.
Next year, who knows? The only thing on the agenda that is partially planned is taking my niece to NYC as her 16th birthday gift. I’d like to replan our Dakotas trip that was canceled twice - for a hurricane when we lived in Florida and for the pandemic. Those are my 2 last states to have visited all 50.

I bet you have some stunning photos of Greece. What was the weather like? What is your favorite place for a resting vacation? Awesome that you have been able to almost complete 50 states!

We have some good pics but I’m not the best photographer. Temperatures were in the 70s & 80s during the days, 60s most nights, with no noticeable humidity (like I’m used to). We had one day with off & on rain but it was still warm. Cruises are a favorite relaxing vacation…can be as busy or lazy as I want.

Only 1 cruise here, though it was a blast. About 60 people on the boat traveling through various inlets and the coastline of Alaska. Yes, I would do it again.
Dakotas will be a lot of fun. That is wonderful to be able to have visited all 50 states!

DisneyWorld is my favorite vacation. There is so much to do that doesn’t involve a ride. I can relax at home, so I prefer my vacations to be busy. Because of Covid and my health, we haven’t gotten back into road trips. For 2023, we are going to WDW in late January and I hope to plan a trip to Holland, Michigan for the tulip festival in May.

I only live about 45 minutes away now. If you come, I'd love to meet you in person!
