The fog cleared quickly. No big deal. Then, I saw Sissy making repeated trips to the litter box but little production...again. Just like Monday. Was able to speak with a vet. She said in 20 years she has never seen a female cat with bladder stones have a blockage, but I could bring her in just to be sure. Load Sissy up and to the vet we go. Stone has not moved. Vet gave her some pain medication.
Got her back home, gave her happy juice and I was on my way.
I must admit, me expectations were not high for CKC. I knew there were not many vendors at the faire. Also, I make more journals now than scrapbooks. I did find a few things, but overall it was very heavy on pre-made pages, kit pages and 3-D die cuts. Evidently the days of every booth having Stickles and a booth devoted to Washi tape are days gone by.
It has easily been ten years since I was at a CKC. The Paper Loft STILL had some of the same paper I bought back then. It was called Gentle Times when I bought it. It's Grandma's Home, or something like that now.
The paper selection was as I expected. No lines like Stamperia or Graphic 45, etc. No Distress ANYTHING... oxide, regular, or any products intentionally old and distressed. No Simple Stories now that I think of it. I discovered SS at CKC.
Product-wise I would say there were many dies and stamps, but very heavy on stamps for cards and holidays. Besides the die I bought, nothing piqued my interest. I kept returning to booths making sure I didn't miss something. I felt like I was casing the joint.
No ribbon, no baker's twine; one booth with bling...on clearance. Mostly 12 x12 paper few 8x8 pads...
So, what did I buy?
I found Cutter B scissors. I overpaid for them; at least two other booths had them cheaper. I bought what I found first.
I bought a Tim Holtz die (40% off, which is telling...), a flower stencil, two holders for Stickels and alcohol inks, colored staples. The box had 2004 date on it. The staples are black, gold, bronze, silver (duh). They were a dollar each; I bought three boxes. Four pieces of paper. You read that right.
One of my objectives today was to drive somewhere by myself. I know that sounds funny. DH drives most everywhere, except in town errands I run. He says he's "Driving Miss Daisy." So, that objective was met.
Worst part of the CKC day was the $10 for parking. Another $7 for entry to the vendor's faire.
I went to a Stampers show three or four years ago. Tim Holtz was there!
Has anyone else been to a CKC show lately? What was your experience?
I could tell when the classes let out as the vendor's area would get a little more busy. It wasn't by any means crowded. I did a bit of reminiscing about past CKC events I have been to and that was fun too.
Do you like to create your own layouts, or do you like premade pages? I have an independent streak...I'm gonna dream it up myself, even if it's wrong!
