Just home, ds was hit by either a drunk or drugged driver tonight on his way home from work. Ds is fine. Car is probably totaled (really doesn't matter). Didn't realize the guy was high or drunk until the officer told us he had arrested the other driver and would mail the accident report in the morning as ds was fine and he wanted to get this individual booked. The man's condition also explained why the police were not called before ds called his mom. I got there and told him the police had to be called - and promptly dialed 911 (in my nervous condition I couldn't find my non-emergency number). So, one city officer and a state trooper arrived and they took care of things. Thanksgiving/praise page. DS pointed out that I talk a lot when I am nervous . Just so thankful he is ok. Nope, not falling to sleep anytime soon. Chatting here so as to not wake anyone up LOL

I am happy for you that ds is okay. This January 18, 2015 will mark the 6th anniversary of DS 1 totaled DH's beloved Saturn. It was absolutely terrible, answering the phone and hearing a panicked voice. We flew to the site and were horrified to see the car down a small hill. DS 1came running up to us and buried his head in my neck and shed some tears. The car was totaled but that was minor compared to him being alive. So I acutely know your pain. Cars are replaceable, children are not. Again, I am so glad that DS is ok. Kathi

Thanks, Kathi We are getting along One blessing in disguise -vehicle maintenance. We had just completed (aka check just cleared bank the day of wreck) routine front end work (wheel bearings and something else our mechanic recommended - he knows our kids drive this car a lot. New brakes the beginning of the summer.) on the side that held everything to the road. The fact that had been done is one reason ds was able to hold in his lane (4 lane divided highway) when all of this occurred. He didn't loose control of the vehicle and end up in front of on-coming traffic (70+ mph is speed most cars travel on a 65 mph highway). Poor Vinny won't drive again, but he did his job admirably - kept my son safe. Yes, we do name some vehicles. This is the 2nd wrecked taurus - both protected people in head on collisions. Can you guess what we are looking for again ? ps - my neice had a head on with her taurus - she and her sister walked away, the other people did not. The other car moved out of their lane and into hers on a two lane highway. I am kind of sold on this vehicle right now.
