Since the last one went so short, this one has a deadline of August 10 (that would be the day after I mail all 200 invites to my sister)! So - this will have a few parts 1) post something in the challenge (one of four pics) 2) put a joke on this thread (clean 3) tell about an ideal summer event (real or imagined) whoever enters all three - will be put in drawing for prize. No, no idea what just yet - but it will be something scrappy!

my ideal summer event: a non-event- sitting on the beach under my umbrella at about 5 pm and not having anything to do (especially not having to make dinner!)

Joke
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until they speak.

#3- An ideal summer event: So many choices but I'll go with: all 5 of us sitting around the table on the deck, eating dinner, having a nice time, telling stories, shooting the breeze, and just generally enjoying each other's company. It may not happen, but I now have a new goal to aim for.

Well, yes,, it is the family..... Or it could be me and the 3 cats and one dog but they don't talk much.................... By the way, Karen, you nailed some humanity in your joke. I was in the post office about 18 years ago, before Forever stamps, and after the PO had raised the rate by 1 cent, so you had to buy 1 cent stamps to mail a letter or bill. This event occurred about one week later after the raising of the cost by 1 cent had been in the news. I was in line behind this elegant elderly woman, dressed up very fancy, hat, scarf--the works. She got up to the counter and asked about the new rates and what she had to buy. The woman answered, "You have to buy 1 cent stamps." Elegant lady said, "Yes, dear, and how much do they cost?" The clerk, with wide eyes at facing the Dumb Question of the Day, ever so politely ans slowly answered, "Onnnnnneeeeee cent." Elegant lady thought this was great and handed over her few cents and happily walked away with her half-dozen or so 1 cent stamps. I got up to the counter the clerk and I exchanged a knowing look, and I told her she handled that way better than I would have. We had a good laugh over it. It's funny what stays in our minds, yet we have no idea what we did with some object {whatever} that we put down someplace just yesterday. Now on that topic, i bought a gift for DH for Christmas last October. It was so safe, I just found it a month ago. When I did, only then did the memory of putting it there actually surface.
