What do you do with all of the handmade cards that you receive?
Keep them? How?

This is my latest quandry.
I have years worth that I have saved in various boxes. Back when I first started making cards, I kept them for inspiration.
Now they are old and I doubt they would inspire me since my style and ability level has changed.
I feel badly tossing them since I know how much work goes into them, but I can't seem to find a reason to save them either.

I keep cards for two reasons. One is sentimental value, and those I either keep in a box after I've displayed them for what feels like an appropriate time for the occasion, or I punch the corner of it and put it on a ring and hang them on display in a big bunch. I do that with each Year's Christmas cards. The other reason I keep a card is for inspiration. Those I only keep the card fronts and I put them in a different box. When it no longer inspires me I get rid of it.

That is a problem for me, too. I hate to throw away anything someone has worked so hard on, but I can’t keep everything. I usually display a handmade card for a while (sometimes as long as a couple months) and then dispose of it.

A few years back I got up the nerve and got rid of over 30 years of Christmas cards. No exaggeration. And these were mostly not handmade. Every year they would go in ziplock with the year, and my address at that time. I finally decided I didn’t want someone else having to go through this stuff. I kept a very small amount. Ones my daughter made when she was little, handmade ones from my Mom. I few from relatives that have passed.Etc. It is no easy task!
